Visit Fort Carlton This Summer

Visit Fort Carlton Provincial Historic Park this summer! A variety of exciting programs and events are available throughout July and August for the whole family to enjoy.

DAILY PROGRAMS
9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Crossing Place Trail: Approximately an hour hike round-trip. See the wagon wheel ruts where the Red River carts came down to the fort on the historic Carlton Trail.

River Trail: An easy trail, approximately a 30 min hike round-trip linking the fort to the North Saskatchewan River that opened up Canada’s west to the fur trade.

Picnic: Tables, covered shelters and campfire barbecues are available.

Camp: A small rustic campground with non-electric sites is adjacent to the fort.

WEEKEND PROGRAMS
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
(July and August)

Tea and Bannock: Join Barb from Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation by the fire for tea and bannock.

Fun with Fire: Explore its wonders while learning to start a fire with flint and steel or learn to make lead shot.

*Meet a character from Fort Carlton’s past – Chief Trader John Edward Harriott.
