Free Fishing Weekend

Jul 9, 2016 | 11:04 AM

Saskatchewan’s waters provide us with many recreation and economic opportunities. At the same time, protecting fisheries for future generations takes the continued efforts and co-operation of everyone who enjoys fishing, also known as angling.

Buy an Angling Licence

Buy a hunting, angling or trapping licence through HAL – the government’s hunting, angling and trapping licence system.

Download the Anglers’ Guide

Get information on licensing fees and requirements, season dates, daily limits, management zones, catch-and-release fishing, regulations and more. The guide is available in English and French.

Complete fishing regulations are also available.

Free Fishing Weekends

Free fishing weekends are July 9 to 10, 2016 and February 13 to 15, 2017.

Please note:

Regular angling limits and all other sport fishing laws remain in effect.
The free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks.
Anyone planning to take fish out of the province must buy a licence.
Anglers on Lac la Ronge must have a free endorsement, available at local merchants.
