Jul 4, 2016 | 8:56 AM

The park is bustling with people boating, picnicking, and hiking in the sun!

Restaurants, retailers, and recreational outfitters located in Waskesiu and Prince Albert National Park are open for the season and ready for more great weather!

Interpretive Activitieshave begun: Musicals, hands-on crafts, and sing-alongs are only some of the activities available as part of this year’s Summer Programs! See the attached, “Summer Program”, schedule for activity times and locations.

Nature Centre is open. Explore exhibits and activities at the Nature Centre from 10:00am to 8:00pm daily. This heritage building has books, puzzles, games, and movies that help kids and adults alike learn about Prince Albert National Park and the wildlife within it. Sign out free Nature Kits and pick up an Xplorer Book to use as you roam the park.

NEW! Club Parka booklet: Great for families with young children! These books contain fun activities for those 6 years old and under; read a story, complete a scavenger hunt, or draw the things you see around the park. Pick up a free Club Parka book at the Visitor Centre or Nature Centre. For older kids grab an Xplorer Book!

Young wildlife can be viewed throughout the park: Elk and deer have had their calves and fawns. Bears have been seen in the park with their cubs! Drive slow and have your camera ready for some great shots.

Remember, these animals are unpredictable and must be given space. Keep at least 3 bus lengths (30m) from deer, elk, moose, and bison and 10 bus lengths (100m) from bears.

Mark your calendar: Waskesiu Children’s Festival is July 16th. This will be a fun-filled day for the whole family; face painting, crafts, puppet shows, fire truck tours, and Indigenous games are just part of the excitement! Activities are free with paid park entrance. More details will be provided via email in early July.
