North Stars’ players Levi Kleiboer, Cody Spagrud, and Layne Young each received an invite to attend selection camp for the 2016 World Junior A Challenge.

North Stars squeak by Broncos despite poor 3rd period

The North Stars got back in the win column on Wednesday night thanks to a 5-3 road win over Humboldt, but their 2-0 lead heading into the third period vanished and the game was nearly tied.

The Midget A female Sharks are playing in their third season in the North Sask Female Hockey League, but one level up, there’s a brand new Sharks team in its inaugural season.

And they’re already making their mark.

On May 8, 2015, Lance Alm found himself refreshing the web page on his computer more often than normal.

It was the day of the WHL Bantam Draft, a day when the league’s website or social media were the quickest ways to find out if you’d been selected.

Holinaty’s new found confidence leads to success

Two years ago, 18-year-old Keaton Holinaty came to North Stars camp and was cut by coach Kevin Hasselberg.

Now, he’s lighting the lamp early and often for Battlefords in his final season of junior. He is currently second on the team in goals with 12 in 26 games.

Senior hockey weekend wrap

Both the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League (SPHL) and Sask West Hockey League (SWHL) had multiple teams in action over the weekend.

In its second weekend of regular season play, the SPHL saw both blowouts and one-goal affairs.

AAA Stars split weekend games

The AAA Stars split two weekend games, losing 6-2 on Sunday at home against the Notre Dame Hounds after winning 4-3 in a shootout against Swift Current on Saturday.

Sunday's game wasn't as bad as the score indicated, although the Hounds began to outplay the Stars as the game went on.
