It's the fourth time in the last five years the Battlefords North Stars and Estevan Bruins are meeting in the post-season — a semifinal series that starts this weekend for games one and two at the Civic Centre.

The acquisition of 20-year-old goaltender Bo Didur at the January trade deadline changed a lot for the Estevan Bruins.

While the two clubs are six hours from one another and not in the same division, the Battlefords North Stars and Estevan Bruins have faced off 10 times within the last year alone.

Over 1,700 regular season games, three Stanley Cup finals, one Olympics, one all-star game, and two outdoor classics: it's safe to say Battleford native Mark Wheler has seen his fair share of hockey up close as an NHL linesman.

Rookie forward Elijah Loon-Stewardson scored his first career playoff goal in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night, netting the overtime winner that catapulted the Battlefords North Stars to the second round of the playoffs.

Keith Anderson, Cody Spagrud and Connor Manegre have all been physical this series against the Weyburn Red Wings, who are now on the brink of elimination, down 3-0 to the North Stars.
