After loss, Beavers look toward tonight’s game

Jul 18, 2018 | 9:25 AM

The North Battleford Beavers just couldn’t get the bats going last night, and will now have to play tonight in game three of their series.

Unity’s offence overpowered the Beavers last night; scoring nine runs on their way to a 9-3 win over the hometown Beavers. This sets up the game tonight at Beaver Lions Stadium as a one game, winner moves on, loser goes home type of matchup.

The Beavers bats went quiet last night, while starting pitcher Darvin Scheidl, who had a 1.80 ERA over two games in the regular season pitched a gem, the Beavers just couldn’t help him out on offence in the game. The offence did come alive later on in the game, but it was too little too late.

The Beavers hope to have the intense crowd they had for game one of the series, in which they won in a 7-6 walk off.

The team also said this morning that their starting pitcher will be a game time decision in the must win game.

Around the rest of the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League last night, the Border City Blue Jays eliminated the Standard Hill Lakers with a 9-6 win, sweeping the series 2-0.

With the win, the second round of the NSRBL playoffs are nearly crystal clear. The Lloydminster Twins, 12-2, will have home field advantage against the Wilkie Brewers, 8-6, while the winner of tonight’s game will take on Border City, 9-5, with Border City having home field advantage in that second round series.
