A man charged in an alleged robbery on Mosquito First Nation January 6 was sentenced for a lesser charge in North Battleford Provincial Court this week.

Jamieson Wahobin, 23, pleaded guilty to being the occupant of a vehicle in which he knew there was a prohibited weapon, a shotgun, when he appeared in court Tuesday. A second charge of robbery with a firearm was withdrawn.

Judge Bruce Bauer sentenced Wahobin to 267 days time already served. He was also ordered to complete nine months probation, pay a $200 surcharge, and was prohibited from possessing firearms for a period of seven years.

Wahobin was originally scheduled to stand trial Tuesday, but the Crown and defence agreed to a joint submission on sentencing instead.
