Merlo set to take the Dekker Centre stage

Jun 11, 2018 | 8:00 AM

The Dekker Centre will be electric when Madeline Merlo takes the stage Thursday.

Merlo, one of the hottest names in country music, has influences from music genres from across the board, ranging from classic country to a free-spirited pop-country vibe.

The Maple Ridge, B.C. product said she’s extremely excited to hit the stage in North Battleford and to get on the road with the western portion of her new tour.

“Its lots of fun,” Merlo said. “I’ve been singing since I was a small kid. I always dreamed about having my own band one day and being able to play shows across the country, so it’s great. I love my band. They’re amazing people that I surround myself with. We’re really excited to get on the road.”

With hits like “Neon Love,” “Motel Flamingo,” and “Whatcha Wanna Do About It,” Merlo’s sound continues to evolve, and her fan base is continuously growing. She said she knows that everyone that comes out to the Dekker Centre will have a great time.

“It’s a little bit of everything,” Merlo said. “We have a lot of energy in our set. We’ve got some acoustic moments, really kind of rock moments, and soulful moments, and of course many, many country moments as well. It’s pretty eclectic; I’m an artist and love all types of music, so you can hear pretty much every influence in the set.”

Tickets are still available for the show, which starts at 8 p.m. at the Dekker Centre Thursday.
