Northern Pikes stay true to their roots

Nov 27, 2017 | 10:00 AM

For over 30 years, Jay Semko, Bryan Potvin and Don Schmid have been travelling highways and dirt roads, telling stories of small towns, love and heartbreak. On Friday night, the group brought their Big Blue Sky 30th anniversary tour to the Dekker Centre.

“It’s great to be in Saskatchewan and back in the Battlefords,” lead vocalist Potvin said. “The crowd was very kind.”

Following the show the Pikes signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans before heading to Saskatoon for a Saturday night performance.

“These guys sounded as great as they did when I saw them years ago,” fan Tom Scarsde said. “It really brought back memories of my younger days and was worth the drive.”
