Christmas comes alive in North Battleford this Saturday

Nov 22, 2017 | 1:00 PM

The streets of downtown North Battleford will transform into a winter wonderland this Saturday as the Battleford’s eighth annual downtown Winter Festival and Parade kicks off the Christmas season.

The event, co-ordinated by the Downtown North Battleford and the Battlefords Boys and Girls Clubs, is an event for the whole family.

“Children can stop by the Innovation Credit Union and have their pictures taken with Santa, plus we will have a pop-up Christmas Market and wagon rides,” said Nicole Combres, executive director of the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club.

Combres added food vendors and live entertainment will also be set up on 101st St., and local area first responders will give youngsters an opportunity to look inside an ambulance or a fire truck.

The highlight of the day will be the arrival of Santa Claus during the parade.

“This year’s parade will begin at the Innovation Credit Union parking lot,” Combres added. “It will then travel to 13th Ave. and head to 101st St. before going to 11th Ave., where we will turn left to 102nd St. then finish at the Innovation parking lot.”

Combres said parade entries will be accepted until Friday evening and if anyone would like to enter a float or well decorated vehicle they can do that at the Boys and Girls club office. The Winter Festival kicks off on Saturday from 1 p.m until 3 p.m.
