AAA Stars split weekend games vs. Notre Dame

Nov 6, 2017 | 4:00 PM

This weekend seemed to be the coming out party for Adam Beckman and Ty Mosimann of the Battlefords AAA Stars.

The pair each had six points in two road games, first a 5-2 loss on Saturday to the Notre Dame Hounds, and then a 5-3 win on Sunday against the Notre Dame Argos.

On the season, the Stars are now 5-7, good enough right now to be holding down the eighth and final playoff spot.

Mosimann’s goal and five assists over the weekend now give him 20 points on the year in just 12 games, good for fourth overall in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL). His 14 assists are tops in the league as well.

Beckman missed the first two games of the season for the Stars because of his time with the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs, but Beckman has now worked his way into the top-10 in league scoring with 16 points in 10 games. He tallied four goals and two assists this weekend.

The two are also both currently on a five-game point streak, Mosimann with 12 points in his last five and Beckman with 13 points in his last five.

Two weekends ago, the Stars fell twice to the Tisdale Trojans, so they are just 1-3 in their last four games. Goals against has been an issue during that time with 18 goals against in the four contests.

The Stars don’t play again until Tuesday, Nov. 14, when they’ll look to build off of Sunday’s win with a home date against the Beardy’s Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks are 2-4-2-1 this season.
