Thursday was a good day for the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation when a local North Battleford business supporter once agan stepped up with a big donation.

Gold Eagle Casino donated $10,000 as a diamond sponsor for this year’s BUH Foundation Festival of Trees fundraiser.

”I think this is a very needed event in the Battlefords, to raise funds for the hospital foundation,” Atcheynum said. “I feel honoured to be part of this event. I think health services benefits everyone within our community. It’s very well needed within our area.”

The foundation’s executive director Claudette McGuire thanked the casino and said this year’s support is its ninth year in a row, for a grand total of $90,000. McGuire added this year the foundation hopes to raise from between $20,000 to $25,000.

“This event couldn’t take place without support like this, through sponsorships, and as well through volunteers,” she added. The Festival of Trees takes place from Dec. 2 to Dec. 7 at the Western Development Museum in N.B.

The event will feature a gala, live and silent auctions, as well as a Family Day event. There will also be a Christmas high tea this year, set for Dec. 7.

Funds raised from the Festival of Trees will be used to purchase equipment for the Renal Dialysis Unit at BUH.

Tickets for the event are available at the BUH.
