Aug 1, 2017 | 10:39 AM

The Unity Cardinals are one win away from capturing their first ever North Saskatchewan River Senior Men’s Baseball championship.

The Cardinals doubled the Border City Blue Jays 4-2 on Monday night in Lloydminster to take the opening game of the best-of-three championship series.

The Blue Jays came into the series with the best record during the regular season (12-2) and an unblemished record during the playoffs until Monday’s loss.

The Cardinals finished the regular season with a 10-4 record before ousting the North Battleford Beavers in three games in the first round of the playoffs and then eliminated the Lloydminster Twins in the semi-finals.
