Good conditions expected for Rabbit Lake Snowmobile Rally

Mar 4, 2017 | 7:00 AM

While many areas of the province are seeing a lack of snow, organizers in Rabbit Lake said they have at least enough for their annual Snowmobile Rally.

Rabbit Lake and its agricultural association have been putting on this event for decades according to Mick Allchurch, vice president of the agricultural society.

Allchurch said while the rest of the province hasn’t had ideal weather for hitting the trails, the Rabbit Lake area has been more fortunate.

“We do have snow. We’ve had people phoning and asking, and we tell them, ‘yeah come for a ride’. You have to see it for yourself because we do have good snow conditions,” Allchurch said. “A lot of people around the area don’t know that we probably have the most snow around the area.”

The snowmobile rally is 50 miles long, with two rider draws worth $500, and three raffle draws offering $5,000 first place prize, $2,500  second prize, and $1,250 for third.

Allchurch said organizers are hoping for around 200 riders this time around. In previous years, the event has drawn as many as 300 riders.

Tickets will be available for the rally, held at Rabbit Lake on March 4, until the morning of the event at the Rabbit Lake Hall.
