Police respond to 7 assaults in one day

In a 24-hour period, between the mornings of Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, Battlefords RCMP responded to a number of assaults in the area.

In one case, at roughly 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 a man approached a vehicle on the 1400 of 97 St. in North Battleford, opened the car door and punched the male in the driver’s seat before walking away. Police say the suspect was found and is facing charges of assault and mischief.

Around 4 a.m. on the morning of Jan. 6, RCMP was called to an assault at a residence south of Battleford. The accused fled the scene and charges of assault are pending. The matter is still under investigation.

In total RCMP responded to 7 assaults in one day.
