4-H Club spreading joy through the Battlefords

Dec 16, 2016 | 9:00 AM

Youngsters from around the region have been busy spreading the spirit of peace and joy around the Battlefords this week.

The Week of Caring has local 4-H Club bringing cookies to firefighters and singing carols for seniors this week, among other acts of kindness.

Eagle Hills 4-H Club vice president Sara Florence said the Week of Caring is the club’s way of giving back to the community.

“The community has given so much to 4-H to help us do what we like to do, and supported us in so many ways that we decided it would be a good idea to give back to the community and do what we could to help them out,” she said. “It feels really good for me because we get to help people and I like to do that.”

The club, which has roughly 30 members, brought cookies to the Fire Department, RCMP detachment and WPD Ambulance Monday, gave Christmas cards to residents at Battlefords District Care Tuesday, played games with the Boys & Girls Club Wednesday, and sang carols for residents of Valleyview Tower 1 Thursday.

The rest of the week the group is doing a toy sort at the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre Friday and wrapping gifts at McKitrick Community School Monday.
