Footballers Stynsky & Fransoo named co-MVP at Crusaders banquet

Nov 20, 2016 | 11:00 AM

Running back Jacob Stynsky and defensive lineman Adam Fransoo were named co-MVP at the Crusaders end of season football banquet on Wednesday evening.

Stynsky, a senior, was the focal point of the offence this season before being hampered by an unfortunate ankle injury towards the end of the season. When healthy, he could be counted on for large chunks of yardage and was a big reason the team began the year 2-0.

Stynsky also took home the top offensive player award and shared most dedicated player honours with Andrew Pyle.

Fransoo, who’s also graduating, was punishing on the defensive side of the ball all season long. Accordingly, he took home the top defensive lineman award in addition to his co-MVP honours.

Other major award winners were Andrew Pyle, who took home rookie of the year, Devin McAllister, who won the defensive player of the year award and Spencer Heidel, who won most improved player. Erik Littlepoplar also won the Crusader award, with Liam Narvarro and Alex Washkowsky splitting the top offensive lineman award.

Juniors winning awards were Kian Heidel, for junior lineman, Declan Wychopen, for junior offensive player, and Latral Roset-Foulston, for junior defensive player.

Captain’s awards went to Brady Holhoyl and Declan Wychopen for the senior and junior teams, respectively.

There is significant turnover for the Crusaders heading into next season as Stynsky, Fransoo, quarterback Paul Cubbon, Narcisse Mbwebwe, McAllister, and Heidel all graduate.
