North Battleford has a new mayor through acclimation and 15 candidates for city council.

By the nomination deadline at 4 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 21, current city councillor Ryan Bater was the only person to submit papers to run for city mayor and will succeed current mayor Ian Hamilton.

Hamilton had planned to run again for mayor, but reconsidered. On Sept. 12 Hamilton announced he wasn’t going to run in order to spend more time with his family.

There are 15 city council candidates who are running for six council seats on Election Day on Oct. 26.
