The short-lived Khalif Mitchell experiment has come to an end for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Riders announced the release of the controversial defensive lineman on Monday, Sept. 12 after less than two weeks on the roster.

“After talking with Khalif we mutually agreed to part ways,” stated Roughriders General Manager and Head Coach Chris Jones in a press release.

“After sitting out for over a year, we both agreed it would be difficult for Khalif to get physically ready to play in a professional football game at this point in the season.”
