Living Sky enrollment numbers fairly steady this year, while Light of Christ sees an increase

While kids are still settling into school in the Battlefords and area, enrollment numbers indicate registration at both school divisions remains fairly steady compared to last year.

Light of Christ School Division had 2,074 students registered on Wednesday, September 7, up from 2,054 last year in September.

Director of Education Cory Rideout said enrollment surpassed the division’s projection for this year, which was 2,049.

“We still have schools that are processing requests for transfers, people moving and we’re still getting new registration so that’ll fluctuate, but I firmly believe that we will be higher than projected,” he said.

Living Sky School Division had 5,529 students as of Wednesday, compared to 5,569 last year in September, representative Shannon Lessard said via email.

She added some kindergarten classes haven’t started yet, and the division anticipates roughly 5,600 students by the end of September, which would be closer to last year’s figure.

Both divisions won’t have solid registration numbers until the end of September.
