Aug 31, 2016 | 5:29 PM

After nearly eight years of proposals and plans and more than two years of construction, the new Mosaic Stadium is ready for action.

The City of Regina announced on Wednesday that the stadium is substantially complete. After breaking ground on the site in May of 2014, the stadium will be ready for tests planned in October of this year.

Some of the outstanding work that needs to be finished includes: installing things like furniture and light fixtures, finishing the concession and kitchen areas, installing broadcast cabling and communications and finishing locker room and administrative areas for the Roughriders.

The public is welcome to take a sneak peek inside the stadium on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
