Arrests down at Craven this year

Jul 16, 2016 | 5:16 PM

The 2016 Craven Country Jamboree has seen the number of people charged by the RCMP drop from last year at this time according to Inspector Ted Monroe.

“Numbers are down from last year which is good … it’s all about education and general public understanding that you’re here to have fun and safety is the utmost importance.”

Monroe credits all around cooperation between a number of different groups of people.

“I think probably the security staff, our members and just the message … being given out by everybody, it’s about having fun, safety I think that’s the key.”

Monroe said that in the past twenty four hours RCMP have charged 3 people with assault with a weapon as well as charged 3 people with driving under the influence.

RCMP have laid a number of other charges as well.

9 people have been charged with disturbing the peace.

1 person has been charged with obstruction.

8 people have charged under the liquor act.

3 people have been charged with mischief to property.

3 people have been charged for driving while being disqualified.

RCMP have also given out thirty eight traffic tickets and held fourteen people in custody.
