Cam Broten resigns as leader of Sask NDP

Apr 11, 2016 | 12:10 PM

Cam Broten announced Monday that he is stepping down as leader of the Saskatchewan NDP

In a statement made to media at a playground in his neighbourhood in Saskatoon, Broten acknowledged that the party didn’t achieve the results he had hoped for in the provincial election.

“In a democracy, elections belong to voters and the voters have spoken and it is our duty to respect that decision,” he said, repeating a line from a concession speech he made at NDP headquarters in Saskatoon on election night.

Broten said he is looking forward to spending more time with his family, and would look for ways to serve the province in the future.
