Today, Feb.4, was to be election day for members of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, but that will not happen.

The election for urban councillor has been cancelled.

Former councillor Warren McCallum is appealing his removal, and there is now a court injunction stopping the election.

Election officer Darryl Kingfisher informed paNOW he was made aware of the injunction late Wednesday. He could not provide a time line for how long it would take to get the issue sorted out.

McCallum was removed in December by the elders’ council, following allegations of breaching the band's election code, and financial mismanagement.
