Temperature fluctuations can damage gas meters: SaskEnergy

As spring approaches and temperatures begin fluctuating, SaskEnergy is warning homeowners to be careful of damage to their natural gas meters and rooftop heating equipment.

A low pressure system coming in from Alberta is expected to bring 20 cm of snow this weekend to the Battlefords along with wind gusts up to 70 km/h, which will heavily reduce visibility for drivers.

Weekend storm could cause hazardous driving conditions

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Battlefords, which Environment Canada said could lead to extremely hazardous driving conditions.

City streets are being described as slippery in North Battleford however the highways surrounding the city heading to Lloydminster, Unity, Cut Knife and Meadow Lake have whiteout conditions. The Provincial Highways Hotline is advising motorists not to venture on these roads until further notice.

Weather forces bus cancellations again

Whiteout conditions on many of the roadways have the province warning motorists to stay off the highways around Lloydminster, Unity, Biggar, Meadow Lake and the Battlefords today.

A grey looking sky with a few flurries is in the forecast today in the Battlefords. However, the area could possibly see another 10 cm overnight according to Environment Canada.

Winter returns to the Battlefords

All good things must eventually come to an end and that holds true this weekend for weather in the Battlefords area.

Over the course of the last few weeks, the Battlefords have enjoyed above average temperatures with even a few days reaching above zero.

For a second straight day cold temperature closed a number of schools and forced buses in the area to stop running.

Extreme weather causes bus and school closures for second straight day

The extreme cold weather is playing havoc with some buses in the area.
 
-All North Battleford and Battleford, Leoville, Spiritwood, Hafford and Medstead buses with the Living Sky School Divivison are not running today.

Extreme weather causes bus and school closures

The extreme cold weather is playing havoc with some buses in the area. As a result the following buses and school have reported interuptions in service.
 
- All North Battleford and Battleford, Cut Knife, Leoville, Spiritwood and Medstead bus routes are cancelled.
