It's a question many are asking this morning as Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Battlefords, Wilkie, Maidstone and surrounding areas.

Town opens waste transfer facility

Battleford residents will now be able to dispose of their garbage without having to cross the river to do it.

The Town of Battleford announced at its last meeting the new Loraas Environmental Services waste transfer station opened to the public on Tuesday.

The prosecutor in charge of the Husky oil spill case said the matter could either wrap up in a few months or drag on much longer, depending on how the parties proceed at their next appearance.

Battlefords RCMP have advised drivers to stay off the roads and avoid travel due to poor conditions Friday morning.

A combination of snow and wind brewing to the west is expected to bring challenging conditions Friday. Weather forecasters have recommended the public change travel plans if they can, and keep an eye on the Highway Hotline.
