ELECTION 2016: NDP Leader champions multi-pronged crime prevention

Provincial NDP leader Cam Broten championed a “multi-pronged” crime-prevention model during a stop in the city.

It’s not just about enforcement, Broten said, “it’s also very much about addressing the reasons someone turns to crime as opposed to living a law abiding life.”

Assault charges stayed against former Roughrider Taj Smith

Former Roughriders receiver Taj Smith will not go to trial as his charges of aggravated assault have been stayed.

On Thursday at Regina Court of Queen’s Bench, the Crown prosecutor asked the judge for a stay of proceedings in the case. The judge agreed.
