City council votes unanimously to name bridge after Gordie Howe

Saskatoon City Council voted unanimously on Monday to rename the Circle Drive South Bridge after Gordie Howe.

This after Ward 1 Councillor Darren Hill introduced a motion to  bypass the city's regular naming procedure and fast-track the change, pending approval from the Howe family.

New app to relay emergency information to Sask. residents

The Saskatchewan emergency alert system is now available in the palm of you hand.

The province has launched the SaskAlert app on Apple and Android phones. It allows residents to get real-time information about emergencies, like tornados or flooding, as they unfold.

The commemorative walk for residential school survivors and those who could not make it home was the brainchild of both Sallie McLeod and Nancy Mirasty. The pair met at the Prince Albert Indian Residential School and have been lifelong friends ever since.

Residential school survivors make the walk back home

A group of residential school survivors can finally begin the healing process and reflect on a journey which took them by foot from Prince Albert to Stanley Mission.

Saskatoon Councillor wants bridge named after Gordie Howe

There is already a rink, football field, campground, statue and sports complex in honour of Gordie Howe in Saskatoon, but if Coun. Darren Hill gets his way, there will be one more thing in the city named for Mr. Hockey.

Heart and Stroke Foundation’s big bike returns to Battlefords

The Big Bike event is on its way back to the Battlefords next week.

On Tuesday, June 28, North Battleford Business Improvement District (NBBID) and Lifetime Fitness gym are partnering up to bring the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Big Bike event back for another year.
