North Stars reflect on SJHL/MJHL showcase experience

With Battlefords North Stars forward Dakota Huebner not able to take part in this week's Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior Hockey League showcase due to injury, the majority of North Stars that did take part didn't have to worry too much about impressing scouts.

Steinbach Pistons goaltender Matthew Thiessen makes a save for Team Garbutt on Tuesday at the SJHL/MJHL showcase in Regina. Thiessen, an 18-year-old who is eligible for June's NHL entry-draft, made 28 saves on 30 shots in the win.

SJHL/MJHL Showcase Day 2 Recap

The inaugural Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior Hockey League combined showcase wrapped up on Tuesday with a second slate of games at the Co-operators Centre in Regina.

For the first time since September, the Battlefords North Stars find themselves out of the top 10 national rankings of the Canadian Junior ‘A’ Hockey League.

This past week, the Battlefords North Stars came back from a 3-0 deficit against the top team in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League thanks to two goals from Brad Girard.

SJHL/MJHL Showcase Day 1 Recap

Five Battlefords North Stars took part in the first ever Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior Hockey League combined showcase, which kicked off on Monday in Regina with a three-game slate.

All three games were SJHL victories.
