Camps for Kids with Diabetes

Apr 24, 2016 | 10:52 AM

D-Camps help kids with type 1 diabetes indulge their sense of fun and adventure in a diabetes-friendly environment where they can:

  • Meet and connect with other kids who share the same experiences and ‘get’ diabetes. Often, camp friendships last long after camp is over.
  • Participate in outdoor activities like swimming, hiking and canoeing that promote self-esteem and personal growth.
  • Learn how to manage their diabetes in a supportive, nurturing environment. They return home less reliant on their parents and better able to manage their disease on their own.

In addition to D-Camps, the CDA also runs camps and activities for teens getting ready to live on their own and Family Camps for all members of the families of kids with type 1 diabetes.
