Strides to Better Health is an exercise and education program where the emphasis is on building skills for managing your health and maintaining an active lifestyle.  This program offers professionally supervised exercise, peer support, and learning to increase self-management skills.

Strides to Better Health Goal:

To improve or maintain the  health of people who are living with a chronic condition  or those who are at  risk  by providing a safe and supportive environment for individualized/group exercise programs, learning and self care management.  Self referrals are accepted.

How does it work?

The exercise sessions are held for up to 20 participants 1- 2 hours, 3 mornings per week. The Chronic Disease management nurse will meet with you before starting the sessions to get a complete medical history and the Exercise Specialist will assess your starting point for exercise.  A consultation with your doctor may be required.

Who is the program for?

The Strides to Better Health program is for individuals who have a history of cardiac events, stroke, arthritis, pulmonary disease and other chronic diseases. Acceptance into the program is determined by a medical history and an assessment by the Strides staff.
