AAA Stars split weekend games

The AAA Stars split two weekend games, losing 6-2 on Sunday at home against the Notre Dame Hounds after winning 4-3 in a shootout against Swift Current on Saturday.

Sunday's game wasn't as bad as the score indicated, although the Hounds began to outplay the Stars as the game went on.

Running back Jacob Stynsky and defensive lineman Adam Fransoo were named co-MVP at the Crusaders end of season football banquet on Wednesday evening.

Their winning streak is over.

Coming into Saturday’s game against the second place Estevan Bruins, the North Stars knew it wouldn’t be easy to push their winning streak to 14 games. But nobody expected they would lose in the fashion they did: an 8-6 loss in front of their home fans.

On Friday night, the Battlefords North Stars continued their winning ways with a 2-1 shootout win over the Meflort Mustangs to push their winning streak to 13 games.

Column: North Stars’ biggest threat a familiar one

Having just passed the exact two-month mark of the SJHL season yesterday, I felt it would be a good time to evaluate the top talent in the league and examine who may pose the biggest threat to the North Stars.

Young a goal scorer at every level

It wouldn’t be much of a surprise to North Stars fans to learn that Layne Young has always played forward.

The North Stars sniper was a goal scorer his whole life, including this season where he leads the team with 14 goals, good for the third most in the league.

Hawks prove difficult, but not insurmountable for North Stars

As expected, the Nipawin Hawks proved to be a difficult opponent for the North Stars on Tuesday night at the Civic Centre, but in the end the home side prevailed 4-2 to extend their winning streak to an impressive 12 games.
