Small tax increase for Town of Battleford

Town of Battleford ratepayers can expect to see about a three per cent on average tax increase, but otherwise "no major surprises" in this year's budget according to Chief Administrative Officer John Enns-Wind.

Town council will release and pass the new budget at the April 17 meeting.

Boushie family questions heightened security for court date

Family members of a man who was shot to death at a farm near Biggar last year are questioning a higher level of security at the local courthouse, where the man accused of shooting Colten Boushie is appearing this week for a preliminary hearing.

Boushie family supporters stage peaceful protest

Carrying signs reading "Murder is Murder," "Every Life Matters," and "Justice 4 Colten," several Colten Boushie family members and supporters staged a short but peaceful protest outside Provincial Court in North Battleford Monday to raise awareness of the court case.
