Man facing attempted murder charge in North Battleford

A man facing a charge of attempted murder appeared in North Battleford provincial court Monday after a shooting incident in the city three days ago.

Clayton Favel, 19, who is in custody, made his first court appearance.

A Meadow Lake man was sentenced at Court of Queen's Bench in Battleford Thursday for a list of charges related to child pornography.

Meadow Lake man convicted of child porn charges sentenced to 5 years

A 25-year-old Meadow Lake man was sentenced to five years in jail for charges that include child luring, sexual interference and making child pornography during his appearance at Court of Queen’s Bench in Battleford, Thursday.

First baby of the new year has royal connection

A Battleford couple are the proud parents of the first baby born in the new year at Battlefords Union Hospital. 

Mom Kelly and dad Larry Halstead had their new baby, named William David Charles, on Wednesday.

"We're happy he's here," said Kelly at the hospital Thursday morning.

Administration at North Battleford city hall is waiting for the province to take its first steps before making any decisions on preparing for the Canada-wide legalization of marijuana expected July 1.

A local specialist doesn’t expect there will any significant local impact as a result of the new mortgage stress test rules that came into effect Jan. 1. There is the potential that home prices could possibly decrease in the future, however, if there is an impact on sales.
