Two men are facing criminal charges after an incident involving a firearm Saturday night on the Saulteaux First Nation.

Battlefords RCMP said officers were called to the First Nation shortly after 6 p.m. after receiving a complaint of two males pointing a firearm at a victim.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, but the RCMP caught up with the two suspects in a rural field just west of North Battleford and took them into custody without incident. With the help of the Battleford Police Dog Unit, a sawed-off .22-calibre rifle was located nearby. No shots were fired during the incident, RCMP said, and no injuries were reported.

The suspects, a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from the North Battleford area, were held in custody over the weekend and were scheduled to make their first court appearance in Provincial Court today.
