Scary moment as school bus and SUV collide in Battleford

Jun 1, 2018 | 2:00 PM

There were no serious injuries this morning when a school bus and SUV collided on Highway 4 at the intersection of 29th St. in Battleford.

Battlefords RCMP said the collision occurred at the traffic-light-controlled intersection. The bus was carrying five students at the time, police said.

The driver of the SUV was assisted out of the vehicle by fire services as the power doors and windows were disabled by the impact. The SUV driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene by paramedics, who said hospitalization wasn’t required. There were no injuries to the driver or students on the bus, and all of the students were picked up from the scene by their parents.

Police said road conditions were good at the time of the collision and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing.
