May 28, 2018 | 11:55 AM

Local firefighters were busy early Sunday morning responding to two fires in North Battleford.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fires.

In the first incident, North Battleford Fire Department attended a vehicle fire in a field just off Airport Rd., at 4.14 a.m.

The fire department reported the vehicle was fully engulfed when four firefighters with two firetrucks arrived on the scene. The vehicle was totally destroyed but fire crews managed to quickly extinguish the blaze to prevent it from spreading into nearby bushes. The RCMP also attended to control the scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.

Later, at 5.41 a.m. firefighters responded to a tree on fire in the backyard of a residence at 1801-102nd St.

The fire department reported the fire had spread along the fence, to some bales and into the nearby garden shed.

Eight firefighters with two firetrucks were able to control the flames and extinguish them. The RCMP and ambulance also attended.

The fire department reported the incident caused minor damage to the adjacent shed and a vehicle in the backyard. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.
