May 23, 2018 | 9:00 AM

A 17-year-old youth is in custody after allegedly breaking into a home in order to commit armed robbery early this morning in the City of North Battleford.

Just before 5 a.m., Battlefords RCMP were dispatched to a residence in the 1300-Block of 97th St. where an armed male suspect had entered a family home demanding money.

When the RCMP arrived on the scene they learned the armed suspect forcibly took a resident from the home in their own vehicle in order to go to a downtown financial institution to obtain cash. The vehicle, suspect and victim were quickly located, RCMP said, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. No one was injured during the incident, RCMP said, and the matter remains under investigation.

The suspect will remain in custody pending a court appearance.
