RCMP have confirmed 14 people were killed and another 14 were injured when the bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos SJHL team collided with a semi-trailer near Tisdale Friday.

According to the Nipawin RCMP, the bus was carrying 28 people including the driver at the time of the collision, meaning every occupant was either hurt or killed. The police said they would not release the identity of any victims at this time, and could not say whether the deceased were players or staff.

RCMP said they will work with partner agencies to notify families as quickly as possible, and ensure the appropriate supports are provided to those affected by the tragedy.

The police said their next public update will be issued Saturday at 8 a.m. A special phone line has been established for anyone seeking information on a family member who may have been involved in the collision, the RCMP said.
