Agrimex tradition continues this weekend

Apr 4, 2018 | 12:00 PM

It’s been a tradition in the Battlefords for the past 33 years, and it continues this weekend as the Battlefords Agricultural Society present the annual Agrimex trade show at Exhibition Park.

With over 100 exhibits on display, Battlefords Ag General Manager Jocelyn Ritchie said visitors are sure to see something that will catch their interest.

“We are excited about having another sellout at Agrimex this year,” Ritchie said. “I think we have a good variety including food, jewelry, farming and ag and houseware. We really do have something for everyone.”

The Agrimex usually draws huge crowds, she said, which is the reason vendors keep coming back.

“We average around 3,000 visitors every year to the Agrimex,” she said, “and we have had many years where we had over 5,000 through the door.”

Ritchie said one of the keys to the success of the Agrimex is the fact that the organizing committee tries to have something different for visitors to enjoy each year.

“Last year we had the robotic lawnmower; this year we have an interactive refrigerator,” she said. “It will actually make your grocery list for you.”

Ritchie said there will be a free pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday morning and admission includes entries into a number of prize draws.

“This year we are giving away cash as prizes,” Ritchie said. “We have draws for $1,000 and $500 plus an Exhibition prize package with lots of goodies for this year’s Ex coming in August.”

Agrimex runs Thursday and Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
