Battlefords RCMP investigating assault; victim stable

Battlefords RCMP were on the scene investigating the area near a home off 100 Street and14 Avenue in North Battleford on Monday afternoon. The area has been blocked off as a crime scene.
Sgt. Chris Stephens said Monday an individual was assaulted overnight on Sunday evening in the area cordoned off, and police are investigating.
“At this point we do not fear for the victim’s life,” he said. Stephens added the individual is currently in stable condition.
“We do not fear for the public’s safety at this time,” he added. “It’s not the type of incident where we’re alarming the public or we’re worried about something. It is an isolated incident. Once the investigation is done we’ll release more information.”
