A Regina couple has rallied the community and raised $300,000 for Saskatoon’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in memory of their 13-month-old son who passed away in 2013.

Jason and Desiree Rattray started fundraising for the massive donation after the loss of their son William Rattray, who was born with an underdeveloped larynx which led to numerous health issues. The couple partnered with local businesses to sell T-shirts and hoodies and held other fundraisers including a 10-kilometre run and cookbook sales.

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation President and CEO Brynn Boback-Lane said the donation will support the creation of an ear, nose and throat examination room, which will be named after William.

“Jason and Desiree’s kindhearted gift to our foundation, thanks to the help of family and friends, will inspire and help other families forge ahead with a similar spirit,” Boback-Lane said in a statement. “Little Will’s zest for life will not be lost as we celebrate his strength and love.”
