Sask. Hospital receives another substantial donation

Mar 28, 2018 | 10:30 AM

The new Saskatchewan Hospital has received yet another sizeable donation for their New Beginnings Fundraising Campaign which will help purchase medical equipment and furniture for the hospital.

Conexus Credit Union donated $100,000 toward the campaign and in recognition will have the Quality of Life Rehabilitation Centre named in their honour.

“Conexus has deep roots in our communities and a rich heritage of giving back,” CEO Eric Dillion said. “We’re excited to partner with the Saskatchewan Hospital on this special project that will benefit so many.”

The Quality of Life programming will provide opportunities for patients to engage in supervised and individual goal directed activities in a safe and supportive setting. The rehabilitation programming will focus on life skills training that will help prepare patients to live independently and will encourage cooking, baking, making and selling crafts and socializing.

“We are thrilled to have Conexus Credit Union join us in the campaign,” Corinne Bernier Delainey, New Beginnings fundraising lead, added. “Their $100,000 donation will go a long way to improve the lives of the people who come to the Sask. Hospital for care.”

The New Beginnings Fundraising Campaign was tasked to secure $8 million in donations which Bernier Delainey said will help furnish the entire facility.

“If you take the hospital and turn it upside down and shake everything out of it then that is what we will have to replace,” she said.

The Conexus donation is the third significant donation the Sask. Hospital has received in the past three weeks. On March 14, Leslie and Irene Dube of Saskatoon donated $1 million toward the campaign. Last week, the Innovation Credit Union contributed $100,000.

The New Beginnings campaign currently sits at $6.2 million raised.
