N.B. firefighters awarded for long service

North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater joined Fire Chief Trevor Brice at City Hall Monday to honour two long-serving firefighters with North Battleford’s fire department.

Brice announced Leslie Markewich and Trevor Watts would be recognized with exemplary service awards for their decades of dedication to the community.

Both on-call firefighters with the local department, Markewich has completed 21 years of service, while Watts has contributed over 26 years.  

Bater recognized the pair at the start of council’s meeting. 

“Thank you so much for your service to the people of our city for so long,” the mayor said. “A lot of us are able to sleep soundly at night knowing there are people out there protecting us.”
