BMHA novice Barons win Hi-Way 14 championship

With a 7-5 win at the Civic Centre this past weekend over Macklin White, the novice Battlefords Barons Team Solomko won the Hi-Way 14 Hockey League championship.

The Barons took out one of the four Kindersley teams in the first round of the playoffs and then topped Kerrobert in the second round before beating Macklin 6-1 and 7-5 in their two games in the finals. The championship winners, one of two novice Barons teams in the 18-team league, finished in first place in the north division during the regular season with a 17-5 record. 

Finn Silver led all players with six goals in the two games against Macklin. He finished the playoffs with 21 goals and five assists in six games. In the regular season he had 80 goals in just 21 games.

Grady Charabin and Sawyer Smockum each had two goals and two assists in the finals against Macklin. Charabin had 11 goals and two assists in six playoff games, while Smockum had three goals and three assists.
