Sharks season ends after sweep at hands of Bears for 2nd straight year

The defending champion Prince Albert Northern Bears handed the Battlefords AAA Sharks a season-ending loss for the second straight year on Friday night, winning 7-1 on home ice to complete the sweep in the quarter-final best-of-5 series.

The Sharks entered the playoffs in seventh place and faced an uphill battle against a Bears team that posted 22 wins in 28 games this season. Last year, the Bears swept the Sharks in the first round en route to a championship season.

This time around, the Bears took game one 5-1, then edged out a 2-1 win in Battleford Wednesday night, before finishing off the sweep at the Art Hauser Centre Friday, thanks to a hat-trick and five-point night from Camryn Amundson.

The lone Sharks goal came from Madison Sansom, who had two of the three Sharks goals in the series.
