A Hudson Bay Mountie attending court ended up making a high-risk arrest after learning a man allegedly had a gun inside the courthouse on Jan. 23.

The accused was not in police custody at the time and was attending court for a separate matter. He was arrested without incident outside Hudson Bay Provincial Court. Outside the building RCMP located a loaded handgun and loaded magazine during a search of the area.

Donald Cory Schultz, 47, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a weapon while attending a public meeting, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm.

Schultz appeared on his charges yesterday, Jan. 24 in Nipawin. He is set to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Feb. 1.
