Planned power outage for local area

Jan 17, 2018 | 12:00 PM

Residents in a few neighbourhoods in North Battleford will be thankful the temperatures have warmed up, as SaskPower has announced a planned power interruption for early Thursday morning.

The areas affected will be north of Territorial Dr., west of 100 St, north of 30th Ave and east of 99 St.

The outage will take place from 5:45 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Jonathan Tremblay, a spokesperson with SaskPower, said the outage will affect approximately 350 area customers.

“The planned outage is actually to replace a power pole that showed signs of damage from last fall,” said Tremblay. “So to avoid it breaking eventually with any strong winds, we are being proactive in replacing it, so this final outage should complete the work. “

Tremblay added Wednesday’s planned outage to replace several damage poles in the 3rd Ave. in Battleford from last October’s wind storm was postponed and will now be held Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

According to Tremblay, only a handful of customers will be affected during this interruption.
