Battlefords/Turtleford RCMP arrest 5 adults for stolen vehicles, weapon, drugs

Five adults were arrested Saturday morning, after Battlefords and Turtleford RCMP managed to track down two stolen vehicles, a quantity of drugs and a weapon.

At approx,1:50 a.m., on Jan. 13, Battlefords RCMP responded to a complaint of two vehicles stolen from Edam, and that the vehicles were being driven towards the Battlefords detachment area. 

Meota COPP/Rural Crime Watch members were notified of the theft by Edam community members, and the COPP were able to provide RCMP with vehicle descriptions and a proper direction of travel. 

Turtleford RCMP had also responded and managed to locate the stolen vehicles stuck in a farm field just south of Whitkow. Battlefords RCMP arrived on the shortly thereafter. Three adult males and one adult female were arrested on scene by RCMP members. 

A fifth suspect fled one of the stolen vehicles on foot, however RCMP Police Dog Service were able to track and arrest the suspect.

During the arrest of the five suspects, RCMP said its initial investigation also resulted in the seizure of a firearm and a quantity of drugs.

Battlefords RCMP said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Another stolen vehicle found

Also, on the same day (Jan.13), Battlefords RCMP managed to track down a stolen Buick Enclave from Meadow Lake after the vehicle was reported to be in North Battleford. 

RCMP found the vehicle abandoned behind a business, located on the Highway 16 bypass. However, RCMP Police Dog Service attended the scene and were able to obtain a tracks of two youth, who we soon arrested for possession of stolen property. 

That investigation is also ongoing and charges are pending.

The RCMP are also reminding people not to leave vehicles running with their keys in the vehicle in this cold weather, and to ensure no valuables are left in vehicles.
