Two face charges after incident on Mosquito First Nation

Two men are in custody after a weekend robbery on the Mosquito First Nation.

Early Saturday morning, Battleford RCMP received a report of a robbery where a suspect with a firearm stole a vehicle. At least one round was fired by the suspect into the ground during the incident, however no one was injured. The vehicle was later recovered on 33rd St. in Battleford and police confiscated two firearms.

A search for the suspects later ensued with one being apprehended without incident while hiding in a home on 33rd St. A 23-year-old male was remanded into custody on numerous charges, including robbery with a firearm, two counts of pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and wearing a disguise while committing an offence. He will make his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court today.

A second 23-year-old male was arrested Saturday night in Battleford and is also facing a charge of robbery with a firearm. He will also be making his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court today.
